Southern Minnesota, Simple Living
{Preston, MN}
Southern MN has one of only a few Amish communities in our country, with only about 100 families here.
An unfamiliar way of life to most of us - unimaginable, really.
No electricity or modern technology. Horse drawn buggies and plows. Hand crafted furniture, homemade clothes.

For my parent's 25 wedding anniversary my brother, sister & I gave them a getaway to southern MN in early June. While staying at The Inn at Sacred Clay Farm, they feel in love with many of the beautiful and unique pieces of wooden furniture. After asking around, they were directed out to Eli's, an Amish farmer and furniture maker. Upon arriving, he told them he only made tables and sketched directions on a scrape piece of paper to Samuel's.

My parents spent a few hours in Samuel's work shop sketching on the floor and talking through what they wanted. There wasn't a catalogue to page through, just my Mom's and Samuel's imagination.
3 months later my parents received a call on a Sunday afternoon from Samuel. He was ready for us to come and see it. The finished piece: stunning craftsmanship, inspiring, exceeding my Mom's expectations.
A beautiful, and truly unique piece to remember their 25th anniversary.
