Brilliant

I have been spending some time as a nanny for a very curious, intelligent young boy this summer. It just so happens that he and his family come to MN for the summer and spend their days on a quaint little island on Lake Minnetonka.

Life through this 5-year-0ld's eye's is brilliant.
Everything is an adventure from falling off the hammock, flying around the island on his Nimbus 20,000 (because 2,000 just wasn't fast enough), jumping on the trampoline or doing any of the other activities we busy ourselves with. I am so amazed every day I spend with him. He can look through a telescope & see an entire action/adventure scene unfold before him.

The questions he asks are so thoughtful, so honest. The games we play are so imaginative and creative. He rarely
watches TV. He is completely unaffected by the media, and yet he is not sheltered. He knows so much about the world around him through conversation and observation.
It's impossible to feel stressed or worry about anything out there. I have learned so much from this
lil' guy. It reinforces how much I love working with kids & how someday I would love my work to positively affect lives of children. If only everyone could spend their childhood summers out on an island.
